This post is a summary of an interview I did on my podcast with Justin McClintock - Feel Strong Fitness - Fitness Professional and Online Coach

Fitness has always been an important aspect of life for many people. With a surge in the popularity of fitness in recent years, many fitness professionals have emerged in the industry. Justin McClintock, a fitness professional from Philadelphia, has been making waves in the fitness industry for over 10 years. With a range of certifications, including Active Life Professional and Olympic Weightlifting Coach, Justin has become known for his expertise in helping clients with "bigger issues" such as chronic pain, nagging joints, and muscular dysfunction.

Justin is a certified Active Life Pro, OPEX CCP L-1, CrossFit L-2 Trainer, and Precision Nutrition L-1. In addition, he holds certifications in CrossFit Gymnastics and CrossFit Weightlifting and is the Director of Programming at Subversus Fitness. With such an impressive background, I was eager to learn more about his journey in the fitness industry and the philosophies he follows in his training approach.

As the new year approaches, many people start thinking about their health and fitness goals. While setting a goal is a great start, it’s not enough to ensure success. This is where accountability comes in. In our latest interview, we spoke with personal trainer Justin McClintock from Feel Strong Fitness to learn more about the role accountability plays in achieving fitness goals.

An accountability coach is a professional who helps individuals to achieve their personal and professional goals by providing guidance, support, and motivation. The role of an accountability coach is to hold their clients accountable for taking action towards their goals and help them overcome obstacles that may be preventing them.

Goal setting is a crucial aspect of personal training as it provides direction and motivation to the client. It provides a clear roadmap for the client to follow and helps to track their progress along the way. The following are some of the reasons why goal setting is important for a personal trainer's client:

1) Increases motivation: Having a specific and achievable goal gives the client a sense of purpose and direction, which can increase motivation and drive towards success.

2) Provides focus: Goal setting helps to prioritize the client's efforts and focus on what is important. This can help the client stay focused and avoid distractions that can interfere with their progress.

3) Sets realistic expectations: Personal trainers can work with their clients to set realistic goals that are achievable within a certain time frame. This can help to manage the client's expectations and avoid disappointment.

4) Measurable progress: Setting specific and measurable goals allows the client to track their progress and see the results of their efforts. This can help to maintain motivation and encourage continued progress.

5) Aids in accountability: Goal setting can increase accountability, as the client is committed to achieving their goals and working towards them on a regular basis. This can help to keep the client motivated and on track.

Justin is a personal trainer who specializes in working with clients who have faced setbacks in life, whether due to injury or illness. He believes that in order to achieve real results, it's important to start with a deep assessment of the client's full body functionality. This includes being specific about the client’s goals, which is crucial for success. He finds that many clients come to him with vague or general goals, but he believes that every goal, no matter how simple, is achievable.

Another key strategy that Justin employs to ensure his clients’ success is tracking their progress through a journal or app. He believes that tracking how you feel on any given day is essential to making progress. This is where accountability comes into play. By tracking your progress, you can see how far you’ve come and how much further you need to go. This can also help you identify any obstacles that may be holding you back and make adjustments to your plan accordingly.

Another important aspect of Justin’s approach is correcting the client’s mindset and expectations at the start of the program. He believes that getting the client’s mindset and expectations in line is crucial to giving the best chance of success. He finds that this is particularly true for new year’s resolutions when many people start coming to the gym for the first time.  This is great and people should come to a professional whenever they are ready.  However, the real need in the public is a sense of accountability, and that’s where an online coach or personal trainer comes into play.

In conclusion, accountability plays a vital role in achieving fitness goals. By tracking progress, correcting expectations and mindset, and working with an online coach or personal trainer, anyone can achieve their fitness goals. Justin McClintock of Feel Strong Fitness is a prime example of a personal trainer who believes in the power of accountability and is dedicated to helping his clients achieve their goals.
